KUAF Community Spotlight Features Program in Creative Writing and Translation

KUAF 91.3FM will be featuring new works of poetry, fiction, and literary translation from U of A creative writers throughout the month of September. All month long, the KUAF Community Spotlight will focus on the U of A Program in Creative Writing and Translation—a nationally ranked Master of Fine Arts program currently celebrating its fiftieth year.

The creative writing segments air throughout the day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays this month. Each segment will feature a different student from the M.F.A. program, reading his or her original work. Extended versions of the stories and poems you hear on air will be available online at the KUAF website. 

"We're excited to reach the community in this way and to showcase, specifically, our talented students," said Davis McCombs, director of the Program in Creative Writing & Translation. "Many people may know that there's a prestigious creative writing program at the university, but KUAF is giving us an opportunity to share what that sounds like, the work that's actually being created here."

Founded in 1966, the University of Arkansas Program in Creative Writing and Translation in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences consistently ranks in the top 40 MFA programs nationwide, according to Poets & Writers magazine. The Atlantic Monthly named the U of A among the "Top Five Most Innovative" MFA programs in the nation. Noteworthy graduates include Barry Hannah, C.D. Wright, Lucinda Roy, and Nic Pizzolatto.
