University Perspectives Seeking Spring 2017 Instructors

The University Perspectives program invites faculty and staff to apply for Spring 2017 positions to teach UNIV 1001: University Perspectives. Faculty and staff especially committed to first-year student learning and success should apply.

University Perspectives is a flipped course utilizing both in-class and online instruction via learning modules. Courses are eight weeks in length and meet for one hour twice a week, and in spring, courses only meet during the first 8-week session. Instructors receive $1,300 and retain the title of Provost Lecturer for that year. Curriculum is pre-developed, so instructors may elect to utilize this curriculum and suggested activities or may find creative ways to accomplish course goals, which are centered around critical thinking and civic engagement.

By teaching a University Perspectives course, you will make a significant impact on first-year students and influence the student experience at the university. National research shows that courses such as University Perspectives help drive student persistence and graduation, and our instructors play a major role in student success. Instructors who teach the course find it to be a rewarding experience, and student feedback is positive.
