Nominations are being sought for the Hoyt Purvis Award for Service in International Education. The award recognizes members of the University of Arkansas community for their outstanding service to the field of international education and their commitment to promoting mutual understanding between people of all nations.

Three individuals will be selected to receive this award — a university faculty member, a university staff member and a staff member within the Graduate School and International Education.

Individuals seeking to nominate others or self-nominate should review criteria and complete the nomination form. The nomination deadline is Monday, Oct. 17.

A committee designated by the dean of the Graduate School and International Education will review nominations and make the final selections. Recipients will be recognized at the Chancellor's annual reception for International Scholars as part of International Education Week, which is Nov. 14-18.

The award was established to honor Purvis, now an emeritus University of Arkansas professor of journalism and international relations, for his contributions to and advocacy for international education at the University of Arkansas. He was the first recipient of the award which was begun in spring 2016.
