Webinar to Aid Businesses in Preparing for Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Order

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Global Campus, in continued association with Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C., will offer a webinar Thursday, Oct. 13 for businesses and human resource professionals entitled “Final Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces ‘Blacklisting’ Rule Goes Into Effect October 25: Are You Ready?”

The cost of the webinar is $40, and registration is available online. Topics covered will include who qualifies as a federal contractor subject to the blacklisting rule, workplace laws on which employer compliance must be assessed, effective date and timeframe of reporting, subcontractor reporting obligations and paycheck transparency rules.

The University of Arkansas Global Campus is recognized by the Society of Human Resource Management to offer 1 hour of professional development credit for the Certified Professional and Senior Certified Professional designations for the webinar. The session has also been pre-approved for 1 hour of recertification credit toward HR Certification Institute certifications.

The event is part of a webinar series that provides the latest information about labor and employment issues and regulations. Since the association between the Global Campus and Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C. began, more than 100 participants have earned Society of Human Resource Management and HR Certification Institute recertification hours through this series, designed to deliver up-to-the-minute trends and updates. On Oct. 25, the final rules of the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order, as outlined by the Department of Labor and the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council, will take effect. Bruce Cross – an attorney and director for Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C. – will lead webinar participants in exploring how this may affect their businesses and how to best prepare for the mandatory changes. Bruce’s practice includes work before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Wage & Hour and OFCCP Divisions of the Department of Labor, as well as related federal and state court litigation.
