Chancellor Steinmetz's Investiture Ceremony Scheduled for Oct. 20
Chancellor Steinmetz speaks during Spring Commencement
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas Chancellor Joseph E. Steinmetz will be formally vested with the symbols and ornaments of his position during an investiture ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 in the Faulkner Performing Arts Center.
Investiture is a traditional academic ceremony, generally held within the first year of a president or chancellor’s tenure.
During the ceremony, Chancellor Steinmetz will provide details about the recently announced Eight Guiding Priorities for the University of Arkansas.
Special guests will include UA System President Donald R. Bobbitt. West Virginia University President Gordon Gee will be the keynote speaker.
For the convenience of our academic guests, only those who have been asked to participate in the platform party need to wear regalia to the ceremony.
The entire campus community is invited to attend. Seating in the Faulkner Center is limited to 585 people, but the event will also be available through live streaming.
The investiture is hosted by UA System President Donald R. Bobbitt and the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees and presented by the Campus Faculty Leadership, Staff Senate and the Associated Student Government.
