ROTC Cadets Compete in Outback in the Ozarks Race

The Army ROTC sent a team of 12 cadets — Cadets Travis Cumming, Garrett Evans, Connor Disney, Cote Sams, William Coats, Jake Adel, Nic Norwood, Drake Johnson, Jake Mayfield, Jake Ellis, Andrew DeNome, and George Hardin — to the Outback in the Ozarks Race on Oct. 21 and 22.
This race is a competition where each team will run a total of 200 miles. The level of difficulty ranged from easy to strenuous. The legs of the race ranged from the shortest being two miles to eight being the longest. Each cadet completed at least 15 miles, running about a 7.5-minute-mile pace.
This year a total of 84 teams competed. After a long 48 hours of running, the Army ROTC team took 3rd in the Men's Open Division and placed 6th overall.
