Finalists Set for Three Minute Thesis Final

Finalists have been determined for the Graduate School's second-annual Three Minute Thesis competition. The university-wide final is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10, 2017.

Finalists were determined in preliminary heats held in each academic college last week. The first place winners earned $200 and a place in the Feb. 10 contest. The runners up took home $100.

Winners are:

First Place

  • Issam Moussaoui, doctoral student in supply chain management, Sam M. Walton College of Business; his adviser is Christian Hofer
  • Bradley Wilson, doctoral student in geosciences, J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences; his adviser is Thomas Paradise
  • Diana Chen, doctoral student in environmental dynamics, Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs; her adviser is Justin Nolan
  • Vaishali Kandpal, master's student in biological engineering, College of Engineering; her adviser is Chris Henry
  • Daniel Sandor, doctoral student in plant science, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences; his adviser is Douglas Karcher

Second Place

  • Ha Ta, doctoral student in supply chain management, Sam M. Walton College of Business; her adviser is Terry Esper
  • Mahsa Lotfi-Marchoubeh, doctoral student in chemistry, J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences; her adviser is Ingrid Fritsch
  • Sowmya Sivakumar, master's student in cell and molecular biology, Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs; her adviser is Paul Adams
  • Ramchandra Kotecha, doctoral student in electrical engineering, College of Engineering; his adviser is Alan Mantooth
  • Katherine Wilkes, master's student in food science, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences; her adviser is Terry Siebenmorgen

All members of the campus community are invited to attend the Feb. 10 final. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite presentation. More information about the time and location is forthcoming. The contest will serve as the capstone to Graduate Education Week, which kicks off Feb. 6.
