FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The opportunity to retrace her ancestors' journey during the relocation of the Cherokees from their homelands was an experience Stacy Leeds couldn't refuse — the fact that it included a nearly 1,000-mile bike ride was a bonus.

"The Cherokee Nation's Remember the Removal ride program is designed to teach Cherokee youth about the history of the Cherokees' removal," said Leeds, dean of the University of Arkansas School of Law. "As a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, the ride was a life-changing experience for me and for all of my fellow riders."

Leeds is currently the only American Indian law school dean.
