2016 Three Minute Thesis People's Choice winner Richard Perry

The University of Arkansas Graduate School is hosting the second-annual Three Minute Thesis competition final at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, in Plant Sciences 009. The academic contest challenges graduate students to summarize their thesis or dissertation research within three minutes to a general audience.

Finalists were determined in preliminary heats held in the academic colleges during the fall semester.

All members of the campus community are invited to attend the final. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite presentation. The top finisher in the contest will win $500 and the People's Choice winner will earn $250.

The contestants are:

  • Issam Moussaoui, supply chain management doctoral student, Sam M. Walton College of Business; his adviser is Christian Hofer
  • Bradley Wilson, geosciences doctoral student, J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences; his adviser is Thomas Paradise
  • Diana Chen, environmental dynamics doctoral student, Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs; her adviser is Justin Nolan
  • Vaishali Kandpal, biological engineering master's student, College of Engineering; her adviser is Chris Henry
  • Daniel Sandor, plant sciences doctoral student, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences; his adviser is Douglas Karcher

The event serves as the capstone to the campus' Graduate Education Week, which kicks off today.
