Housing's 'Leave Green' Program Repurposes Move-Out Donations to Community Good
More than 5,300 on-campus students will donate tons of clothing and household items at the end of this school year.
The amount donated last year was about 6,530 pounds, or more than 3 tons, as students left their residence halls in May.
University Housing's Leave Green program connects those donations with charitable organizations in the community.
University Housing invites organizations to apply now to be this year's recipient.
Potter's House was Housing's community partner last year. They put out boxes across Housing's buildings and students could conveniently drop off donations as they packed up to leave campus in May.

- Clothing
- Ironing boards
- Shower caddies
- Electronics
- Dishes
- Miscellaneous household items
Multiple organizations may want to work together to collect the items. If so, the application must be submitted as a single application detailing how the organizations will work together.
The selected organization(s) is expected to pick up and store the items donated on a daily basis during the collection period, April 24 to May 15.
Items deemed appropriate for reuse will be at the discretion of the recipient organization.
Donation boxes should be placed in the residential facilities April 24 and picked up on May 16.
Please submit the application by Feb. 17 to be considered.
The organization selected will be notified no later than March 10.
