Sheriff, Nursing Professor to Discuss Medical Marijuana Tuesday at Science Café

Science Café panelists Tim Helder and Nan Smith-Blair will discuss medical marijuana from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Powerhouse restaurant in Fayetteville.

Science Café based at the University of Arkansas is sponsored in part by the U of A chapter of Sigma Xi research society, the American Chemical Society and the Arkansas Biosciences Institute. Events are free and open to the public.

Helder is sheriff of Washington County. Smith-Blair is an associate professor of nursing in the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing at the University of Arkansas.

The passage of Issue 6: The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment of 2016 has created new responsibilities for the Arkansas Department of Health that include rule making, issuance of registry identification cards, tracking of dispensed marijuana, and other operations.
