Local Events Scheduled for Arkansas Archeology Month

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – March is Arkansas Archeology Month, an annual celebration of the state’s prehistoric and historic past. Activities at 32 venues around the state will explore features of Native American and pioneer life in Arkansas, with two of those events taking place on the U of A campus. All are free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
- Celebrate Archeology Day! Arkansas Archeological Survey archeologists will demonstrate the atlatl and spear throwing, basketry, weaving, flinknapping and more. 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Arkansas Archeological Survey building located off Garland Ave., across from the Pauline Whittaker Animal Science Center.
- U of A Museum Collections Tour and Open House. Museum staff will open the collections room for a rare public tour of the vast museum collections. 7– 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, Arkansas Archeological Survey building, located off Garland Ave., across from the Pauline Whittaker Animal Science Center.
