Walton College M.Acc. Student Team Reaches Final Four in Tax Case Competition

A team of three Masters of Accountancy students, Rebecca Francis, David Harris, and Alex Ross, competed in the inaugural Southeast Regional Tax Challenge case competition held at the University of Missouri on Feb. 10-11.

The competition included 14 teams of M.Acc. and law students from universities throughout the region. Judges included accountants, attorneys, and professors from throughout the region. The case considered the income tax and legal issues for structuring a business combination.

The Arkansas team was included in the top teams that proceeded to the final competition round. Rebecca Francis was named the Best Overall Presenter and received a $500 cash prize. The team won fourth place overall and received a $1,000 cash award. T.J. Atwood was the faculty adviser for the team.
