Hundreds of Students From Region to Compete in Science Fair Today

More than 350 competitors in the Northwest Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair will fill the Verizon Ballroom in the Arkansas Union at the University of Arkansas today.

U of A faculty members and graduate students will judge the science fair projects created by fifth through 12th graders in schools from 15 counties in Northwest Arkansas. The science fair will occupy the ballroom all day with the award ceremony beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Senior Division Winners advance to the state Science and Engineering Fair in Conway in early April. Overall Senior Division winners and their teachers will be sponsored to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles in May.

Categories for judging are animal sciences, behavioral and social sciences, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, chemistry, computer science, earth and planetary science, energy and transportation, engineering, environmental management, environmental sciences, mathematical sciences, medicine and health sciences, microbiology, physics and astronomy, and plant sciences.
