Wi-Fi Improvements Planned in 24 Buildings on Campus This Year

Network Everywhere is making it possible for students, faculty and staff to connect easily with any device from any location on campus.

A major expansion is underway to improve Wi-Fi connectivity in 24 research and administrative buildings in the second phase of the Achieve IT: Network Everywhere project.

University network engineers are in the design and planning stages of the expansion, which is expected to be completed in the fall. Davis Hall, Daniel E. Ferritor Hall, Global Campus, J.B. Hunt Center for Academic Excellence and Silas H. Hunt Hall are some of the buildings included in the expansion. Phase one of the project, which was implemented last August, included the installation of nearly 1,000 new wireless access points in over 30 academic buildings. After phase two, students, faculty and staff will find it even easier to stay connected and online as they travel around campus. Additionally, another 13 buildings on campus will get network upgrades with faster internet and increased capacity.

The Network Everywhere project is one of several technological ventures driven by the Achieve IT: Excellence in Technology initiative.
