Walton College's Shollmier Fund and Portfolio Management Class combined team took first place in the Graduate Value Portfolio category at the G.A.M.E. VII international student managed investment fund competition.

The team from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas competed at the G.A.M.E. VII Symposium hosted by Quinnipiac University in New York City on March 30-April 1. G.A.M.E. stands for Global Asset Management Education.

The symposium is attended by about 1,700 students from 147 colleges and universities from 37 countries and 47 states. It is the largest competition of its kind in the world.

The Walton College students won their category based on the performance of the new David Carter Adams Energy Sector Fund managed jointly by the Shollmier Fund, the Energy Finance class and the Portfolio Management class.

Representing the Walton College in the competition were Alec Tahy of the Portfolio Management class, Addison Stanfill of the Shollmier Fund and Energy Finance classes, Reynolds Chew of the Portfolio Management and Energy Finance classes, Timothy Olson of the Portfolio Management class and Blake Sanders of the Portfolio Management class.

Graduate students manage the Shollmier Fund, and undergraduate students in the Portfolio Management class manage the Rebsamen Trust. The Energy Finance Class is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Craig Rennie, associate professor in the Department of Finance, is the faculty member for the classes. Sergio Santamaria, a senior research associate for the Garrison Financial Institute, led the group in New York this year.
