IT Looks to Support Academic Innovation via New Position

A nationwide search is underway for an Academic Technology Innovator, a position within IT Services that will work full-time supporting innovative teaching through technology.

The Academic Technology Innovator position is the first of its kind at the University of Arkansas. Tasked with unearthing, supporting and executing academic innovations, driving impactful change and building deep, meaningful relationships with faculty to bridge gaps, breed confidence and further tech excellence, this is a leadership position that will play a crucial role in transforming tech visibility on our campus.

"I am excited to see our campus technology team introducing this important position dedicated to supporting and serving faculty. I really appreciate the vision for the job," said Dr. Di Brezzo, Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Enhancement.

"It's important for our campus to experience firsthand an IT team that fully embraces, supports and empowers our faculty to be an active part in using technology to improve the campus experience and foster student success," said Paige Francis, associate CIO.

Adding, "Our faculty are not only one of our greatest assets for research and education, they are a great source of ideas. Let's take some chances, develop meaningful relationships, be open to fail forward and invest in fueling innovative concepts in a proactive, fun way. We start, we finish and we share what we learned. From my limited experience in eight months on this campus, I have had such amazing interactions with our faculty members. I have no doubt the partnership experiences we share moving forward will be quite pivotal."

Due to the nature of this position, IT Services seeks candidates with previous experience working with faculty and a passion for building relationships.  Those that meet these requirements are encouraged to apply now through the University of Arkansas Human Resource website.
