U of A Staff Asked to Take Part in Campus Workplace Climate Survey

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas staff members will be invited to take part in a confidential, online Campus Climate Survey beginning on May 1. 

The purpose of the survey is to measure the perceptions, attitudes, job satisfaction and engagement of U of A staff members. Ideally it will identify both strengths that can be encouraged and concerns that can be addressed regarding work place issues, professional development, benefits and access to resources. The goal is to identify staff members’ needs and direct resources toward supporting all staff members, enabling them to participate freely and fully in supporting the university’s priorities.

“I encourage all staff members to take the time to fill out this survey,” said Debbie McLoud, associate vice chancellor for Human Resources. “It should only take a few minutes and your opinions are very important to us. The more people we hear from, the more accurate a picture of the campus climate we will get.”

On May 1, all university staff members will receive an email explaining the purpose for the survey, with a link to it. The link will remain live through the May 22, and periodic reminders will be sent out until the survey period ends.

Staff who do not have campus email addresses will receive notifications through their workplace, but will need to access a computer to take part in the survey. Those who don’t have access to a computer can ask their supervisor or a fellow staff member to help get online and find the survey.

The Campus Climate survey is being conducted by the U of A Staff Senate in collaboration with Human Resources. It was developed by faculty in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, working with representatives from the Staff Senate and Human Resources, and will be administered by staff in the Center for Business and Economic Research who will analyze the results and prepare a report for the Staff Senate and campus administration. The report will be made public when it is completed.

Additional Campus Climate Surveys will be conducted every two years to help assess the progress that is being made toward meeting staff needs.
