Army and Air Force ROTC Programs Have Annual Joint Awards Ceremony

Army and Air Force ROTCs had their annual Joint Awards Ceremony this past Thursday, April 27. Representatives from several organizations were in attendance to present their awards for achievements ranging from excellence in scholastics to excellence in military leadership.  

There were too many awards given to mention, but some significant awards include the following:

• The Chancellor's Trophy is given to the top cadets of their respective programs.  It was presented to Air Force Cadet Donovan Montgomery and to Army Cadet Geoffrey Logan.
• The Vice-Chancellor's Trophy was given to Air Force Cadet Rachel Pohl
• The Provost Trophy to Army Cadet Paul Lee
• The Cadet of the Year is an Army Award voted on entirely by the cadets of the Army ROTC program.  The only criteria for this award is the cadets voted for the one they most admired and wished to be like.  This year's award went to Cadet Geoffrey Logan.
• Razorback Brigade Sabers are given to cadets who served as Cadet Commanders in the Army ROTC.  The sabers were presented to Cadets Geoffrey Logan and Joewaan Mitchell.
• Like the sabers, the Thunderhawgs Wing Commander's Swords are given to Cadet Wing Commanders in the Air Force ROTC.  These swords went to Cadets Nicholas Hauch and Patrick Ward.
• The Col. David F. Murchison Award for Academic Distinction went to Air Force Cadet Shelli Daniel
• The Col. Bob Kraynik Memorial Award for community service went to Air Force Cadet Col. Patrick Ward
• The Jeff "Jeb" Bell Air Force ROTC Award went to Cadet Walker Rosenbaum who "best embodies our Air Force wingman principles"
• The Distinguished Military Graduate Award was given from Cadet Command at Ft. Knox, KY for high achievement in both academics and military leadership to Army Cadets Eric Jeter, Geoffrey Logan and Trace Williams
• The National Defense Transportation Association Award went to Army Cadet Andrew DeNome for academic achievement, leadership qualities and promotion of safety
• The Society of American Military Engineers Award went to Army Cadet Gabriel Bogdanoff for being the top Engineering student in the Army ROTC
• The Superior Cadet Award for being top of their class went to Army Cadets:
  • MS IV - Geoffrey Logan
  • MS III - Gabriel Bogdanoff
  • MS II - Jacob Self
  • MS I - Travis Cumming
