Raise a Paw, and Help Raise $9K for the K9s!

Did you know the University of Arkansas Police Department has the most elite K9 unit in the state?

They're a big part of what helps keep faculty, staff, students and fans safe on the Hill. From patrolling campus and sporting events to providing explosives security and narcotics detection, this dedicated team of behind-the-scenes officers work like dogs, day after day.

The UAPD K9 unit is also called on to provide support and training for other police and sheriff departments across the region, and they've been called into duty at nearly every K-12 school in Northwest Arkansas.

Officers Leah, Orry, Dingo and Oakley are pretty popular, but they're expensive. The nutritional requirements of our dogs run almost $10,000 each year. And, because of the rigor of their service, they require special K9 veterinarians and dentists. It's all part of keeping these hardworking officers in top condition so that they're able to protect and serve our campus and community at the highest level.
