Clay Greninger Appointed New Assistant CIO of Finance and Administration

Clay Greninger, new assistant CIO and senior director of finance and administration for IT Services.

Clay Greninger is the new assistant CIO and senior director of finance and administration for Information Technology Services at the University of Arkansas.

In his new position, Greninger oversees all things financial for IT Services, including budgeting, accounting, procurement and human resources, to name a few. He also serves on the CIO leadership team, participating in decision-making and collaborating to tackle substantial IT initiatives.

"I'm thrilled to have Clay join our senior leadership team in the Office of the CIO," Chris McCoy, chief information officer, said. "Clay brings a wealth of experience in financial administration from technology-focused companies. He will play an important leadership role as we pursue a number of strategic projects in the next few years."

Greninger said his utmost priority is advancing student success, and he is looking forward to finding out how he can integrate that into his work with IT.

"I've always wanted to come back to Arkansas and do something impactful," Greninger said. "Improving life for students is a personal mission of mine, and now I have the ability to come on and potentially roll out IT solutions to do that."

Most recently, Greninger was the director of advisory services at the auditing firm KPMG. Prior to that, he worked in auditing and consulting for various companies He is a certified public accountant and information systems auditor, and has worked for two of the big five auditing firms in the country. Greninger started his career with Walmart as an internal auditor, and gained experience in journal entry management working with Microsoft. While at Microsoft, he was a part of the team who built the first financially significant cloud-based system for the company.

Greninger is originally from Diamond, Missouri, and is a first-generation collegiate and a University of Arkansas alumnus. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Missouri Southern State University, and went on to earn a Master of Information Technology Management from the Walton College of Business. Greninger said he has always wanted to come back to Arkansas, and he and his wife have returned with hopes of a healthy work-life balance in a town they both know and love.
