Darin Nutter, professor of mechanical engineering, has been selected as head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, effective July 1, 2017. Nutter has been serving as interim department head since 2016.

"I am very pleased that Dr. Nutter will be continuing this role on a permanent basis," said John English, dean of engineering. "I appreciate his dedication and hard work as interim department head over the past year. Mechanical engineering has the largest undergraduate student body in the college, and in recent years, it has been moving into exciting new areas of teaching and research. I am confident that the department will reach new heights under the leadership of Professor Nutter."

Nutter holds a doctorate from Texas A&M University, as well as a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Oklahoma State University. His research focuses include heat transfer, thermodynamics, energy systems and energy conservation and life-cycle assessment. Nutter is a fellow of ASHRAE and he has been nationally recognized for his work in  energy conservation for manufacturing.
