STAR Central Hourly Graduate Student Positions Available

STAR Central (Office of Support, Training, Advocacy and Resources on Sexual and Relationship Violence) in the Pat Walker Health Center has two hourly graduate student positions available for the upcoming 2017-2018 academic year (fall and spring semesters) to be part of a dynamic team that provides sexual violence prevention education.

Each position is 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.

Duties include:

  • mentoring peer educators of the RESPECT (Rape Education Services by Peers Encouraging Conscious Thought, a multi-award-winning program)
  • development and implementation of outreach programs and events
  • social-norming campaigns
  • social-media outreach
  • awareness/outreach/training initiatives
  • teaching of one-hour, eight-week academic classes
  • data and record-keeping; scheduling
  • other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • must have a bachelor degree
  • be a U of A graduate student for the upcoming 2017-2018 year
  • a desire to actively engage in rape prevention initiatives
  • eligible for employment in the United States

Training is provided. The positions are grant-funded and dependent upon continued funding in 2018. These are hourly positions at a good hourly rate without tuition waivers. The potential for beneficial learning experiences and skill development is tremendous.
