Campus Network Upgrades
Spring and summer have been busy for the network team as projects continue to improve the campus network experience.
More than 500 access points in 40 buildings were upgraded to the latest generation of network hardware. The result of this will be a greater consistency in service and increased speeds from approximately 300 mbps to 900 mbps.
"This is a significant step forward for the University of Arkansas, but what I'm most proud of is the how our student staff took the lead with executing this project. It's a testament to their skill and talent," Devyn Moore, network systems team lead, said.
Students in resident halls will also notice an improved Wi-Fi experience as a new Wi-Fi design goes live in August. Visitors to these facilities will notice an improved experience including continuous coverage from room to room throughout as well as improved speed and bandwidth.
"Improving the student experience is something we take seriously and these projects reflect that focus," said Elon Turner, director of Infrastructure Systems.
