Fulbright College Will Expand New Method for Enrolling Students in Online Classes

Students and advisers should be aware of a new, streamlined method in place to enroll students in online classes from the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences in Spring 2018. This implementation follows a successful pilot test for similar online communication classes in summer and fall of 2017.

The new method for enrollment in UAConnect will expand in Spring 2018 to include 1000-, 2000- and 3000-level online classes offered by Fulbright College. This method creates two separate sections of each online Fulbright College class for enrollment purposes only. One section will be reserved for students in online degree programs, and the other section will be reserved for students NOT in online degree programs.

Students should check the "notes" section for each online class in UAConnect to select the correct section. Most on-campus student sections will end in odd numbers (1, 3), and most online student sections will end in even numbers (2,4).

Students attempting to enroll in the wrong section will receive an error message directing them to the appropriate section. If students in online degree programs receive an error message while trying to enroll in a section reserved for online students, they should contact their advisers to ensure their online academic program is coded correctly in UAConnect.

The week before classes begin, all sections will be opened for general enrollment on a space-available basis. The two sections are merged for learning purposes.

The goal is to implement an easier, simpler process for ensuring that online-only students can enroll in the classes they need and that online classes reach their maximum enrollment capacity. This process also assists faculty in more accurately predicting total course enrollments earlier in the process.

This change does not affect 4000-level or graduate-level Fulbright College online courses or any offered by other colleges.
