Apple Thought Leader to Hold Faculty-Centered Discussions on Leveraging Technology to Transform Learning
Jon Landis, former professor and Apple's thought leader on innovation in higher education, will visit the University of Arkansas mid-September for discussions on mobility, leadership and learning.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 12-13, Landis will host conversations with various groups on campus to start a dialogue about leveraging technology to transform learning.
"Supporting our faculty is such a privilege and we are proud to start a tradition of bringing industry experts and academic visionaries to our home turf, to promote a culture of commitment to innovation in our changing landscape. From exploring emerging trends in education to understanding 'the why', why it's important to support the folks that interact with our students in such a deep, meaningful way," Paige Francis, associate chief information officer, said. "I encourage the university community to attend, ask questions and give us feedback on how we can do better."
Landis will hold three discussions during his time on campus after a meeting with academic leadership, one with campus IT staff, a general community session, all enveloping 'the big one,' a 90-minute engagement geared specifically to our esteemed faculty. Landis is part of Apple's Education team. Prior to Apple, Landis served as a college of education professor, chemistry teacher, principal, curriculum director and information technology director in Pennsylvania. He holds a Ph.D. in sociology, a master's degree in education leadership, and a bachelor's in chemistry.
