Sean Corcoran, an associate professor of economics and education policy at New York University, will give a lecture titled "Leveling the Playing Field for High School Choice: Results from a Field Experiment of Informational Interventions in NYC" at noon Friday, Sept. 15, on the University of Arkansas campus.

The lecture is the first one in the fall offering of the Department of Education Reform lecture series. RSVP online for lunch on the lecture website. Deadline to RSVP is 1 p.m. the Wednesday before the lecture. It will take place in Room 343 of the Graduate Education Building.

Corcoran is associate director of NYU's Institute for Education and Social Policy. His research interests are in the economics of education, state and local public finance, and applied microeconomics. His published papers have examined long-term trends in teacher quality, the impact of income inequality and school finance reform on the level and equity of education funding in the United States, the properties of "value-added" measures of teacher effectiveness, and the high school choices of middle school students in New York City.

Together with colleagues at NYU, Columbia, and Seton Hall University, Corcoran is conducting one of the largest randomized control trials of information supports for school choice ever conducted.
