Licensing and Marketing Event for Campus Groups to Be Held Sept. 20

If you ever had a question about how your university department or student group could use the image of the Razorback, the shield and tower, or any other official logos or trademarks of the University of Arkansas, this upcoming event is your chance to get the definitive answer.

"We are all proud of our University and the Razorbacks and want to display it in just the right way," said Michael Harris, director of licensing and revenue generation. "Throughout the year, my office gets numerous questions from across campus and this event will give everyone an opportunity to learn the policies and procedures and ask any questions they have."

On the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 20, between 1 and 5 p.m. in the Arkansas Union, Harris and Roy Cordell, senior director of creative services for University Relations, will present to various campus groups regarding their specific uses of University of Arkansas trademarks and logos.

Come and learn the dos and don'ts of the approval processes; the difference between University of Arkansas logos and Razorback Athletic marks; usages of these marks; how vendors are selected, and more.

"Besides being a learning experience on how to use the trademarks, attendees will get to meet our local licensees who produce many of the products you see as well as the various kinds of work they can do," Harris said. "Our hope is to open everyone's eyes to all the possibilities available right here in Northwest Arkansas."

The licensed vendors will be in Arkansas Union rooms 512-14 from 1 to 5 p.m. displaying their products, talking about their services, and giving away door prizes. Anyone may drop in during that vendor fair.

The presentations will be held in Arkansas Union 504, and the schedule for specific campus groups is as follows.

  • 1-2 p.m. – Division of Student Affairs directors and staff
  • 2-3 p.m. – Campuswide community
  • 3-4 p.m. – Registered student organizations
  • 4-5 p.m. – Greek Life organizations

"I hope that anyone who attends the event will walk away with better understanding of how the process works, the correct uses of our marks, and the resources to find just the right licensee to produce any product they need," Harris said.
