Full Stomachs, Clean Feet's Education to Action series will start on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the AFLS Building's Hembree Auditorium 107E, located behind the Pat Walker Health Center. U of A professor Kevin Fitzpatrick will address homelessness in Northwest Arkansas. Free Qdoba will be served prior to the event.

Full Stomachs, Clean Feet, a new registered student organization on campus, seeks to bring students and area agencies together to address issues of homelessness and hunger in Northwest Arkansas.

Currently, there are 2,951 estimated homeless people in Northwest Arkansas. Full Stomachs, Clean Feet is partnering with Tri-Cycle Farms, Seven Hills Homeless Shelter, The Salvation Army, and Life Source to create opportunities for U of A students to make a difference in the lives of the hungry and the homeless.  For example, Full Stomachs, Clean Feet members are serving meals at Seven Hills each week and are also creating classroom space to be used for resume preparation and support-group meetings. Additionally, Full Stomachs, Clean Feet volunteers cultivate gardens at Tri-Cycle Farms for food distribution to area service providers.

Members of Full Stomachs, Clean Feet see education followed by action as key to providing support and involving the campus community in addressing homelessness and hunger. This fall, the organization is hosting a three-part speaker series called Education to Action focusing on the prevalence and consequences of homelessness and hunger and opportunities for involvement. With each phase of the three-part educational speaker series, the audience will be called to action, to volunteer with a service provider.

This event is free to current University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students as supported by the Associated Student Government through the Office of Student Activities and funded by the Student Activities Fee. For questions or accommodations due to disability, please contact Grant Damico, president of Full Stomachs, Clean Feet, at gmdamico@uark.edu or call 479-575-5848.
