Dallas Alumni Chapter Kicks off Season by Kicking in for Hurricane Harvey Relief

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Scenes of the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in south Texas and Louisiana were on everyone’s minds as U of A alumni gathered for a Razorback Watch Party in Dallas, Aug. 31. The event was organized and hosted by the Dallas Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association, and chapter members decided before the event to donate half all proceeds to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, specifically to the American Red Cross.
The goal was to help out fellow Razorbacks in the Houston area, and everyone else needing assistance.
More than 230 Dallas alumni members came to Knox Street Pub to show their support, representing graduating classes from 2006 through 2017. The Dallas Chapter ended up raising $1603.75, which a Walmart relief initiative matched $2 for every $1 donated, for an impact of more than $3200.
“This is so incredible,” said Lisy McKinnon, assistant director of chapter programs for the Arkansas Alumni Association. “The enthusiasm of the Dallas Chapter is inspirational. They are an example of the best that we have to offer.”
