Science Café Panelists to Discuss Climate Change Tuesday
Science Café panelists John Hehr, a University of Arkansas professor of geosciences; Dan Skoff, chief meteorologist for KNWA/FOX 24; and Jeannie Whayne, University Professor of history; will discuss world reactions to climate change from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Powerhouse restaurant in Fayetteville.
Science Café based at the University of Arkansas is sponsored in part by the U of A chapter of Sigma Xi research society, the American Chemical Society and the Arkansas Biosciences Institute.
Climate change is one of the major challenges of our time and adds considerable stress to our societies and to the environment, according to a statement from the United Nations. From shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impact of climate change is global in scope and unprecedented in scale, the statement said.
Science Café is open to the public, free of charge, and held in an informal restaurant setting as a time to sit, relax and chat about the topic of the night. Food and drink for purchase will be available.
