A student executive committee has been formed this fall to help direct Leadership Walton, a career path management program in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.

Mariam Bartlett, a junior in information systems from Fayetteville, was selected to chair the Leadership Walton Student Executive Committee. "I am honored to serve as chair of this committee and to advance its mission," Bartlett said. "I believe there is huge potential for the organization to build on its successes."

Leadership Walton was founded in 2007 to provide students a defined progression of professional development requirements as an enhancement to their educational experience. J.R. Hinkson, associate director for Undergraduate Programs, formed the new board and said it will assist in the design and operation of Leadership Walton goals.

The committee adopted a three-part mission:

  • To strengthen the visibility and quality of Leadership Walton.
  • To provide support of Leadership Walton activities.
  • To advise on program changes to Leadership Walton.

The committee was formed after a competitive application process. Other officers and members are:

Vice-Chair for Public Relations

  • Kelsie Stone – Plano, Texas

Vice-Chair for Community Engagement

  • Mia Norton – McKinney, Texas

Board Members:

  • Bailey Beykirch – Pittsburgh, Kansas
  • Andrew Bickford – Frisco, Texas
  • Connor Mackey – Jonesboro, Arkansas
  • Molly Tyler – Lufkin, Texas
  • Aaron Zhou – Qingdao, China

Bartlett said, "Because this is the first year of the executive committee, one of the biggest goals we have is to build more social components in Leadership Walton where students get to know one another and network with employers. We are also strengthening our social media presence on Instagram. We are having companies follow us to keep updated on the accomplishments of Leadership Walton students."

She encouraged companies and students to follow Leadership Walton on Instagram: @leadershipwalton
