Study Like a Hog Resource Fair: Tips, Tricks, and Treats

University Housing is partnering with Mullins Library to host the annual Study Like a Hog Resource Fair from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Mullins Library.

Students can take part in a number of sessions, information booths and activities that focus on increasing study skills while engaging students in intentional study.

Activities include:

  • Professor's Q&A panel
  • Campus academic resource booths,
  • Memorization methods discussion,
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Research resources
  • "Make-and-Take" trail mix bar

Each rotation students participate in has been specifically designed to ensure the awareness of study habits needed for them to be successful in college.

"Students can't just study, they need to learn the strategies that are best employed for the subject they are studying and their individual learning style," said Takama Statton-Brooks, University Housing's director for residence education.

"Each semester it is amazing to see the number of students who hadn't learned the study skills necessary to be successful beyond a high school curriculum. Participation in a program like this highlights study tips and tricks that students were not previously aware of."

Study Like a Hog is in its third consecutive semester for on-campus students. Previous partnerships included faculty members from the psychological science department, chemistry and biochemistry department, biological sciences department and English department. These academic partnerships allow students to seek expert opinions on ways to think critically about the subjects they are learning.

Students who attend will be eligible for prizes.
