New budget collaborations mean mathematics and statistics software is now available campuswide.

Barriers are being brought down across campus thanks to a new cost-sharing initiative that allows all students, faculty and staff to access mathematical and statistical software applications without being individually charged.

This initiative, started under the leadership of Tim O'Donnell, vice chancellor for finance and administration, was designed to enhance student learning and benefits everyone in our campus community.

Since this summer, IT Services has been collaborating with financial leaders across campus on a cost-sharing model that will serve as a foundation for funding the future of software distribution on campus.

"Thanks to Tim's encouragement, we began looking for ways to provide students the tools they need without any individual charge-outs," Clay Greninger, senior director of finance for IT Services, said. "After speaking with our partners, it was clear this was something we could do together to support student and faculty success at the University of Arkansas."

Applications now available at no additional cost to individuals or academic units include: AMOS, JMP, JMP Genomics, SAS, Sigmaplot, SPSS, Systat and Mathematica. Visit software.uark.edu to learn more.

Accessibility software such as Fusion, Dragon, NVIDIA and Read&Write will be available campuswide soon. This software is vital to supporting students with special needs and will provide equal access in all campus locations.

Software is also available for use at Tech Spot labs and in the new Remote Lab pilot.
