Department of Theatre Presents an Intimate Play About Religion and Faith, Opening Tonight

The Department of Theatre in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences presents The Christians by Lucas Hnath. 

Pastor Paul has spent the last two decades building his modest church into a congregations of thousands. But when he shares a newfound belief about the nature of salvation, the reaction may just undo all his hard work. What does the flock do when the shephard changes direction? This intimate drama examines faith, and it's power to unite or divide us in equal measure.

Michael Landman, professor of theatre in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and head of the M.F.A. Directing program, directs the show, which stars professional actor Steven Marzolf (whose extensive resume includes several TheatreSquared productions, such as Great Expectations and All the Way) alongside a cast of up and coming undergraduate theatre majors.

The Christians opens tonight. It will be performed at Studio 404, in Kimpel Hall on campus. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances are Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 29 at both 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. 

Ticket prices are $10 for adults; $8 for faculty, staff and seniors; and $5 for students and children under the age of 18. University of Arkansas students may attend the show free tonight, or for $5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The box office accepts cash, checks and Visa/Mastercard.
