FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Faculty and staff have an extra week to contribute to the U of A United Way campaign – United We Win. They also have an extra week to become eligible to win a Dell laptop computer.

The campaign committee has extend the United We Win deadline to Friday, Nov. 3, to give more people the opportunity to turn in their donor cards or go online to contribute at http://unitedway.uark.edu.

“We’ve seen a surge in contributions in the last week – and the $1United social media drive gave us a real boost,” said Jacque Linebarger, the campaign coordinator. “We hope people will take advantage of this extra week to participate in the campaign. Especially since a new census report shows that the programs we are supporting do work to help local children living in poverty.”

The survey by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that the number of Northwest Arkansas children living in poverty has dropped from 27,000 to 21,000 in a single year. Many factors are involved, and many organizations can share credit for this progress. The numbers show that the 31 agencies and 38 programs supported by the United Way of Northwest Arkansas are effective, and contributions to the U of A United Way are making a difference.
