Career Development Center's New Website

As of July 17, the Career Development Center launched a new website after over a year of hard work and dedication. The new website was redeveloped by the Career Development Center's staff with the help of a graduate assistant, two student interns, and a student website developer who also work in the center. Changes were made to the website based off research, including user experience tests with students and Google Analytics.

As a result of the changes, the new website is now more beneficial and accessible for all users on both desktop and mobile devices. The Career Development Center decided to add more visual features, such as infographics, allowing readers to easily follow the information displayed. All information within the graphics will be accessible for users who utilize screen readers in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 85.6 percent of students who were actively job searching had visited their career center, either in-person or online. Additionally, "students who had begun the job search were much more likely to have visited the website than the office, particularly multiple times in a single semester."

The Career Development Center's new website focuses on the important information that would be helpful to its main users including students, alumni, employers, and faculty. The overall goal is to allow all of the users to easily find the information they need and, along the way, find additional information that could also be beneficial. Some examples of helpful information for the student and alumni users includes: exploring different majors and careers, building a great resume and cover letter, preparation for an interview, viewing upcoming events, and joining Career Track Razorbacks. The Career Development Center's website also easily connects users to job openings and internships through Handshake. These are just a few examples of the useful information offered on the website.

Ultimately, the main goal of The Career Development Center's new website is to allow all users to have easy navigation and contain profitable information. Although, the new website is continuing to be tested and allowing feedback, the Career Development Center hopes all who use their website enjoy these new changes.
