FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Most of us can’t help waiting until the last minute to get something done – especially if it involves spending money.

For the U of A United Way campaign -- United We Win – the last minute is here.

The final prize drawing of the campaign will be held this afternoon. The prize is a Dell laptop computer, valued at $1,500.

Everyone who turns in their donor card or makes a contribution at https://unitedway.uark.edu before 3 p.m. will be qualified to win.

Of course for those who really like to procrastinate, the campaign officially ends Friday, Nov. 3. People on campus have donated more than $12,000 in the past week, but we are still a long way from our goal of $160,000 for the United Way of Northwest Arkansas.

So why wait? Your donation will help the estimated 21,000 children living in poverty in Northwest Arkansas. All donations to United We Win will go to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas – and 96 cents of every dollar will go to the 31 agencies and their 38 programs in this region, all helping lift children in our community out of poverty.

United we do win – the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that in a single year the number of local children living in poverty dropped from 27,000 to 21,000. Many factors are involved – but one of them was your donations to the United Way.

Don’t wait. Contribute today.

And thanks.
