On Oct. 20, the University of Arkansas hosted its annual Chancellor's Society event for a record-breaking crowd of more than 300 of its most loyal and generous benefactors at the Wallace W. and Jama M. Fowler House Garden and Conservatory. The event included entertainment from a student string quartet, remarks by Chancellor Joe Steinmetz and was coordinated by the Office of Annual Giving.

Alumnus Victor Wilson and his wife, Monica, from Arlington, Texas, are this year's co-chairs of the Chancellor's Society and were present at the event. They are also parents to Courtney and Megan Wilson, who are current students at the U of A.

"Giving back to the university is important, because it's a major component to building student success, attracting and retaining high quality faculty and administrators, supporting first-in-class research and providing great facilities to support quality academic achievement," Victor Wilson said.

Members of the student string quartet that performed at the event included cellist Charles Hartman, an international studies and music double major from Fayetteville; violinist Edrei Cerda, a music education, music theory and biology triple major from the Dominican Republic; violist Evan Buckner, a crop sciences major and pest management and viola performance minor from Pine Bluff; and violinist Andrea Aguayo, a violin music education major from Fort Worth.

The Chancellor's Society is managed by the Office of Annual Giving and is the most prestigious annual giving group on campus. Donors who contribute $2,000 or more to the university — either through the Chancellor's Society Fund or other areas of campus — are eligible to join. Students and alumni who have graduated within the last five years are eligible at a level of $500 per year, and alumni within six to 10 years of their graduation date are eligible at a level of $1,000 per year.
