Honors College Passport Study Abroad Program Immerses Students in History Where It Happened

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Honors College Passport Program takes students around the globe, immersing them in the culture of historically significant sites to learn through experience from accompanying faculty scholars. In 2017, the second in a continuing series of the Honors Passport intersession courses took 16 students to various sites in Peru, including the fabled Inca city of Machu Picchu, to study the Incan culture and Spanish Conquest.
The first Honors Passport trip focused on opera and the Hapsburg Empire in Vienna and Prague. In 2018, Honors Passport: Pilgrimage will traverse medieval pilgrimage trails from Paris to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Future Honors Passport courses in Sicily, India and Mexico are also under discussion. Honors Passport is one of many study abroad opportunities offered at the U of A, where more than 1,000 students from all colleges studied in more than 200 countries last year.
