During the first week of November, the Graduate Student Congress sent a delegation to the 2017 National Conference of the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students held at Syracuse University.

At that event, delegates selected the Graduate Student Congress as the 2016-17 South-Central Regional Member of the Year and the National Member of the Year. Additionally, the Graduate Student Congress presented the winning bid to host the 2018 National Conference at the University of Arkansas in November of 2018, after defeating a competing bid from the University of California, San Diego.

The national association's conference's accolades topped off a year of unprecedented success for the U of A Graduate Student Congress as they follow the organization successfully winning independence from undergraduate student government earlier this semester.
