Deadlines Approaching for Bumpers College International Programs and Study Abroad Trips

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Application deadlines for several study abroad programs in the 2018 spring and summer terms for the U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences are quickly approaching.

Faculty-led study abroad courses provide students with three to six credit hours and give students the opportunity to learn about a new culture while gaining new knowledge. Bumpers College is still accepting applications for some May intersession, summer and August programs.

Upcoming trips, which are open to all majors, include:

• Belgium: European Agriculture and Food Chain Sustainability is a May intersession program that is still accepting applications. The dates are tentatively May 12-26 and will be confirmed by February. The application deadline is Feb. 1.

• Two summer programs are still accepting applications. The Mozambique Community Development program is expected to run from May 16-June 12. The Italy - The Reggio Approach in Context: History, Policy and Culture program is estimated to run from May 13-26. Both programs are accepting applications until Feb. 1.

• One late-summer program is also available. Trekking Australia: Animals, Aborigines, Rainforests and Reef is a faculty-led program focusing on Australian wildlife. The dates are tentatively August 6-18 and the application deadline is March 1.

In addition, Bumpers College students may apply for IPO scholarships for 2018-19. The deadline for applications is Feb. 1.

Bumpers College students are encouraged to engage in study abroad that will lead to life-long partnerships, cultural awareness and understanding of the global dimensions of their majors. The college's International Programs Office provides structured international experiences that enhance the marketability of students for career and academic opportunities through faculty driven, sustainable initiatives. The office supports faculty, students, international partners and university leadership in increasing opportunities for students to engage in faculty-led programs, internships, exchange programs and study abroad activities that include research. 

Overall, the college sponsors exchange programs to Austria and France, along with faculty-led programs in Belgium, India, Italy, Mozambique, New Zealand and Australia; internships in Greece and Scotland; and research opportunities in Brazil and the Philippines, and Greece.
