On Friday, Dec. 15, the U.S. Air Force gained its newest officer, 2nd Lt. Donovan Montgomery, as the Air Force ROTC program held a private commissioning ceremony for his family. Capt. Clayton Sharum administered the oath of office, and Montgomery's wife Katie, his sister Madison and his mother Kendra McAdams pinned on the bars. Then his father, USAF Master Sgt. (retired) Charles Montgomery rendered the first salute.

Montgomery successfully graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas. During his career in AFROTC, he achieved several distinctions such as Professional Officer Course (POC) Cadet of the Month, POC Cadet of the Year, the Military Order of the World Wars Gold Award, the Daughters of the American Revolution Award, and the U.S. Daughters of 1812 Award.

Montgomery held various cadet positions such as Deputy Flight Commander, Force Support Squadron Commander, Logistics Readiness Squadron Commander, Operations Group Commander, Vice Wing Commander and was a member of the Arnold Air Society.

"Montgomery was at the top of his class, and I thank him for his selfless contributions to the Cadet Wing" said Lt. Col. Marc E. Wolfe, AFROTC Detachment 030 Commander. "I have no doubt that he will be very successful in his Air Force career and a tremendous leader of our cyberspace airmen."

Montgomery's job class in the Air Force is Cyber Warfare Officer.
