University Housing Hosts Brittany Wagner from "Last Chance U"

Hear from Netflix's "Last Chance U" star Brittany Wagner and learn about how failure can lead to success at University Housing's My Biggest Failure, an @Home event.

The event starts at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in the Verizon Ballroom at the Arkansas Union. It is open to all students.

Wagner is a nationally respected athletic academic counselor and life coach speaker. During her time at East Mississippi Community College, she was a mentor and mother-figure to junior college football program.

She will talk about overcoming adversity, her experience working with the East Mississippi Community College Lions football players, and how failure can be turned into an opportunity.

My Biggest Failure focuses on developing a student's resiliency. This is the ability to try again after a failure. Being able to learn from a challenge and attempt it again is an important component to academic and personal success, said Stephanie Adams, University Housing's associate director for academic engagement.

"Failure is only a learning opportunity. It will not define you unless you let it, "she said.

Residents' Interhall Congress, the on-campus student governing body, is a co-sponsor for this event.

This will be University Housing's second year hosting My Biggest Failure. Last year, Ro Di Brezzo, vice provost for faculty development and enhancement, was the keynote speaker.
