Food Science Majors McCullough, Wong Land Internships With Conagra

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Emily McCullough and Emily Wong, two food science majors in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas, have been selected for nationally competitive internships with Conagra Brands.

McCullough and Wong were selected from a pool including applicants from Purdue University, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Maryland, among others.

Conagra Brands, formerly ConAgra Foods, is an $8 billion company producing almost 50 food brands from Reddi-wip, Slim Jim, Rotel and Hunts to P.F. Chang's home menu.

McCullough, a junior from O'Fallon, Missouri, will intern at the Conagra facility in Marshall, Missouri.

"I will be the quality assurance intern working on a food safety and quality project in a dynamic production environment," said McCullough. "I'll be working with Healthy Choice and Banquet frozen foods."

Wong, a junior originally from Airmont, New York, now living in Cave Springs, will intern at the facility in Louisville, Kentucky.

"It's a quality assurance internship, so I'll be given a project to work on during the summer," said Wong, who will focus primarily on McDonald's breakfast items. "At the end of the summer, I will present the project with the other interns in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm used to lab work, so I'm excited to experience a new side of the food science industry."

Conagra is ranked No. 3 in the nation in best retail and consumer product internships, No. 22 for best 2018 internships, No. 17 for best internships for quality of life and No. 20 for best internships for career development.

The company is No. 6 in rankings of best U.S. food and beverage companies.
