FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – February weather around the University of Arkansas is hard to predict – maybe that’s why people turn to a large furry rodent for advice.

There’s a more dependable way to find out if snow or ice have cancelled or delayed classes, closed operations or delayed office openings.

When bad weather hits the U of A sends out Inclement Weather messages by phone, email and text – but only to students, faculty and staff who sign up for them. These are the first and fastest messages you will get.

And if you’re worried about violent weather – remember, tornados can happen in Arkansas in February – emergency RazALERT messages will warn you of danger by phone and email automatically– and by text,if you sign up for it..

Signing up is fast and easy (are you getting a sense you’ve seen this before?):

  • Students – log into UAConnect, go to your Profile, then to Campus Alerts. Put in the numbers you want to use and check the boxes for the messages you want.
  • Faculty and Staff – log in to webBASIS, go to My Personal Data, then Addresses, etc. and look for Contact Information. Check the boxes for the messages you want.

Even if you are already signed up – are you sure your numbers are current? This is a good time to update them if you need to.
