Bryson Named to Direct Academic Initiatives and Integrity Office

Chris Bryson

Chris Bryson has been named executive director of Academic Initiatives and Integrity Office. In this position, Bryson will oversee all matters concerning academic dishonesty and be responsible for the educational outreach to faculty, staff and students in regard to the university's Academic Integrity Policy and procedures.

Bryson joined the University of Arkansas as the associate director of the Office of Student Standards and Conduct in 2013. As one of the chief disciplinary officers of the university, he adjudicated alleged violations of the student conduct code, addressed high-risk behavioral issues, and worked with the All University Conduct Board in a variety of capacities related to recruitment, selection, and training.

Prior to coming to the University of Arkansas, Bryson completed his Master of Science in higher education administration at Colorado State University, where he spent five years professionally working with at-risk students both in academic support and student conduct. During that time Bryson was able to help create a variety of campuswide retention efforts working with students on academic probation, and work with several nationally recognized programs in the field of student conduct dealing with issues ranging from alcohol/drug treatment to academic misconduct.

Bryson received a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology from California State University, Chico. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in the higher education administration program at the University of Arkansas.

Terry Martin, senior vice provost for academic affairs, indicated that he "is extremely pleased that Chris will be overseeing our Academic Initiatives and Integrity Office. He has a lot of experience working with students encountering both academic and conduct issues in higher education.  I look forward to Chris leading the integrity efforts and looking at new academic initiatives on our campus."
