Scholarships from the Division of Student Affairs close on Thursday, Feb. 15.

Student Affairs awards a variety of scholarships each year based on an array of qualifications and interests. A 4.0 grade point average is not necessary to apply.

While good academic standing is required for the scholarships, many of them recognize other qualities such as leadership, student involvement and community service. Another consideration for the scholarships may include financial need as a criterion.

To date, Student Affairs has awarded more than 50 scholarships to 300 students for a total of $523,700.

"These scholarships help ensure student success," said Sue Harris, director of development for Student Affairs. "We want to take some of the financial burden off of students who are working hard and showing leadership ability on campus."

In awarding scholarships, Student Affairs is guided by the wishes of the scholarship donors. Some of the scholarships focus on merit and some on need. Award amounts range from $50 to full tuition. The amount and number of recipients varies each year based on the applicant pool and other various factors.

One scholarship deadline, the Henry Woods Student Leadership Award, has been extended until Thursday, March 1, at 5 p.m.

Each year, Student Affairs awards two graduating seniors, one female and one male, the Henry Woods Student Leadership Award. Winners are students who have an outstanding record of leadership on campus.

To apply, students can complete the application on HogSync using their UARK credentials. To learn more about student scholarships visit studentaffairs.uark.edu/scholarships.
