Law School Dean Candidates to Visit U of A Campus, Give Public Presentations

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four finalist candidates for the position of dean of the University of Arkansas School of Law will visit campus in March and April for interviews and public presentations.

The candidates, in alphabetical order, are Robert B. Ahdieh of Emory University, Brooke D. Coleman of Seattle University, Margaret Sova McCabe of the University of New Hampshire and Asmara M. Tekle of Texas Southern University.

The Dean Search Committee, chaired by Todd Shields, dean of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, identified the finalists. More information about each candidate, including their curriculum vitae, is available online at the School of Law Dean Search page.

Public Presentation Schedule

The open forum presentations will be held 3-4 p.m. in the E.J. Ball Courtroom at the School of Law on the respective dates for each candidate visit. Each presentation and a question-and-answer session will be followed by a half-hour reception in the Six Pioneers Room off the Norma Lea Beasley Entrance Hall.

All law school faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend. Interested alumni, friends and community members are also welcome. Those who attend may submit comments and feedback to Dawn Fisher, assistant to the dean in Fulbright College, at dfisher@uark.edu.

ABout the Candidates

Robert B. Ahdieh is the K.H. Gyr Professor of Private International Law and director of the Center on Federalism and Intersystemic Governance at the Emory University School of Law, where he has been on faculty since 2000. During his tenure, he has held the roles of associate dean for faculty for one year and vice dean for six years. More information about Ahdieh is available on the School of Law Dean Search page.

Brooke D. Coleman joined the Seattle University School of Law faculty in 2009. She is currently the co-associate dean of research and faculty development and professor of law. More information about Coleman is available on the School of Law Dean Search page.

Margaret Sova McCabe has been on the University of New Hampshire School of Law faculty since 2007 and affiliate faculty at the Carsey School for the university’s joint Juris Doctor/Master in Public Policy since 2016. She previously served three years as associate dean of academic affairs and two years as associate dean of academic administration and special projects. Asmara M. Tekle is a professor at the Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she has been on the faculty since 2006.
