The Departments of Theatre and Music in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will present the musical Man of La Mancha from April 5-9 at University Theatre.

Man of La Mancha features a book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion, and music by Mitch Leigh. It is inspired by the 17th century novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, which follows a nobleman on a wayward quest to revive chivalry and justice. The musical opened on Broadway in 1965 and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

This production is directed by Kate Frank, instructor of theatre, with musical direction by assistant professor Jason Burrow. The cast features a mixture of graduate and undergraduate students from both theatre and music.

Man of La Mancha will open on Thursday, April 5. It will be performed at the University Theatre, in the Fine Arts Center on campus. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Additional performances are Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 8 at 2 p.m.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults; $8 for faculty, staff and seniors; and $5 for students and children under the age of 18. University of Arkansas students may attend the show for free on Thursday night only, or for $5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are available at theatre.uark.edu or at the box office beginning one hour prior to each performance. The box office accepts cash, checks and Visa/Mastercard. Discover and American Express may also be used for online purchases only. Seating will be general admission.
